Here are some raw recordings of the senior choir's music over the years... Since this is just a raw file repository and not a normal web site, navigating is done by opening a folder with your browser to see its contents. Clicking on an MP3 file in a folder should play it on your computer. At the top of a list of files, you'll perhaps see "Parent Directory." Just click on that to go backwards, essentially back "up" to the previous directory. The files are in MP3 format and are grouped into folders for the church year they were performed. Inside the folders, the files are generally listed by their performance dates and times. I've also put some older recordings of the choir here, including a copy of a cassette tape the choir made under the direction of Robert Berglund in 1986 and prior to Berglund, a record produced by Edith Norberg in the 1960's or 1970's. The gap in recordings between 2004-2016 happened because of a new organ and renovation of the choir loft, requiring the removal of the recording equipment I'd installed on my own. I never got around to reinstalling it and even now use a small, portable digital recorder that I can just snap onto a couple nearly invisible velcro tabs -- one is located on the director's podium and the other on the wall adjacent to row 2 in the choir loft... it's not as good as before, but that's the way it goes. The music is unedited, other than perhaps boosting the volume on a few of them since the microphone is not in an optimal position for recording the choir. When we sing with brass or orchestra, they usually overpower the choir since they are so close to the microphone. I have not included some of those recordings because of it -- they're almost unlistenable. Why are these files here instead of Mt. Olivet's site (mtolivet.org)? Well, the purpose of recording them is so new choir members can familiarize themselves with our repertoire while older members can refresh their memories of the music. It's been much easier for me to simply record them on my own and quickly copy them to this file repository than have the church's staff mess around with them. And when a volunteer does it, it costs the church nothing. By the way, if you'd like to download any of these recordings, just "right-click" on the file and the menu that appears ought to include a "save as" or other notation about copying the file to your computer. If you're using a Mac, well, I'm a PC user so do whatever you need to to download it. I may also put other interesting things here... photos from choir trips, miscellaneous music or what-not. I also can't promise that this file repository site will be available forever. The server that hosts it is in my house and some day, I may have to take it down for good. But for now, please enjoy, and if you're a senior choir member, PRACTICE!!! -dave p.s. You might find a few extra folders of other music here, too, such as the kantorei folder. In the spring of 2024 I had an opportunity to sing one of those "bucket list" pieces with the Kantorei choir (R. Vaughn Williams' Mass In G Minor) and I put the recordings here so the Kantorei singers could download them...
